James Gleick@GottaLaff @MelissaJPeltier It was touted by people who knew nothing about it except that by promoting a link they could jump ahead on the waiting list. A bit of clever marketing that took in people who should have known better.
@JamesGleick When I was put on the list, I intentionally didn’t boost it. I got in fairly quickly. So yes, a clever marketing device, but it didn’t work on me.
Kelley Graham@GottaLaff my strategy is to pick the most open, scalable and secure platform and wait for others to arrive. 100% success over 25 years. #mastodon and #ActivityPub win. watch all the closed systems learn to speak activitypub. then watch the ad revenue dry up 'cause sponsored content, ads and algorithms are unbearable when there's an alternative.
