Hey Microsoft, I wanted an operating system, not a news aggregator on my task bar happy to shovel rage in my face when all I want to do is print something.

I know rage is usually how people end up consuming news, but I really didn’t want to see shit about the CO shooting or Sandy Hook when all I want to do is print something.

Yinz like the the supposed productivity kings, nothing shits on an end user’s day than encountering something they didn’t know was a feature or expect to see cause they moved the mouse the wrong way. Now I have to stop and turn that shit the fuck off.

@cvwise I hate that there is no setting for "Don't open this shit, I just want the weather down there and no other news."
@cvwise I find it really surprising that this would happen on work computers, too. How is that something my employer wants me being distracted by?
@sollat @cvwise Because Microsoft intentionally made it really hard to disable on non-Enterprise Windows.
@cvwise Dark humor, but now they can charge users to turn it off or allow it to be turned off in a "premium" or "enterprise" grade version of Windows.
@cvwise I've been daily driving Linux for about 4 years now and I had thoughts about going back to Windows now wsl2 is pretty good but this shit makes me want to stay away from Windows entirely

@SerenaTiede Yeah I’ve been running macOS and Linux daily and I rarely use Windows except for CAD or gaming. It just seems entirely backwards for this operating system. Windows 10 was great, and they went and Windows ME’d it up.

Windows 12 will bring back Bonzi Buddy I swear.

@cvwise The default news page on Edge is so bad. It’s like an intro to radicalization.
