Informal noise-to-signal metric for post toxicity if you're still on bird site or as a comparison to here or elsewhere.

From your timeline, count how many posts you get, starting at the top, until you hit one that's about a main character you don't care about, or hate speech, or someone being obnoxious on purpose for the sake of getting attention.

Contrast same metric on other sites.

On NZ Twitter the video of the Christchurch massacre has reappeared (seems largely to be trolling left-wing accounts).
Seems to be being dealt with but some scumbags seem to have been emboldened.

It seems to me that’s a rather odd metric.

I’ve seen one woman (yes, only one) toot about being harassed and bullied because of her gender and was essentially told to suck it up, allegedly.
Mute them, block them, whatever it is she needs to do to fix the problem herself.
Is sexual harassment just another thing, as you see it?
No, I’m not being snotty.

@Pwnallthethings It was 17 posts on this site, before I hit a main character (Yann LeCun, as it happens), and 7 on the bird site. (Of those 7, one was an ad, so 6 would be the fair comparison.)

Coming here reduces toxicity say ~ by a factor of 3.

@Pwnallthethings Well... a lot of the content here on Mastodon currently is people (usually bird-site emigrees) talking about the bonfire of bigotry and hate at the bird site and from its new owner.
