Thanks to all donations, we've been able to solve all issues caused by the sudden growth (100 to 117000 users in 3 weeks) by:
- Getting a new server and migrating to it
- Getting a stable mail service
- Getting media storage moved to Wasabi

In my opinion, mastodon.world has been running stable and responsive for over a week now. Time to start tweaking to try get it even more responsive.

If you see any issues, let me know.

Might you want to donate: https://opencollective.com/mastodonworld

Mastodon.world - Open Collective

Providing Fediverse instances to be used by anyone. (Mastodon, Lemmy, Calckey/Firefish etc)

@ruud thank you so much for doing that for us!
@ruud Excellent work. Very happy to support such a good instance.
@ruud Thanks for doing this. I just joined and so far, so good! I will definitely consider topping up the donations if you run low.
@ruud I'd be interested in reading your insights about this, how you were able to scale everything to keep it working that smoothly. If you ever write something about it, let me know
@captainepoch I was asked to present something about that for @postgresqlBE , when I do I will share that here.
@ruud @postgresqlBE Oh, I think I read you posted something about this, but I thought it wasn't related.

I'll wait, thanks!

@ruud As I #migrated from the #birdsite , I've learned that #mastodon isn't hosted by a company, but by a bunch of #lovely #nerds that making all this possible to the #freeworld . So, as I'm not poor (but not #rich either...), I'd love to take my #share to keep all this running.

So, you're welcome.
Highly #appreciate your efforts!

#btw , I really like the #edit button!!

@ruud what about dm
@Jasminvuk What is your question about DM?
@ruud will methadoon hawe dm like twiter , or you working with server but not on app.
@ruud I was nervous when I chose my 'instance' with mastodon.world because I had noticed some pretty disturbing things happening with .social and .ca - but I have felt very well served here. Thank you. I am pretty sure people don't thank you enough, so I will say it again. I'm glad that I am here.
@ruud Thank you for everything you have done to keep this instance running!
@ruud I just did something I would never do for Twitter. I gave your site money. As hard as I work for my money, I would rather literally burn money than give it to Elon Musk. Thank you for this community. I like it.
@ruud I just donated! Thank you for keeping this service running for us. I think this decentralization idea is important. I'd be happy to volunteer if you're looking for moderators. I think that's going to be important too going forward.
@Tweetfiction Thanks. I'll keep it in mind!
@ruud thanks for everything!

@ruud : Appreciate all your efforts. I had to roundabout donate (since I don't have accounts on your payment choices), so still hoping for a PayPal option, too.

Any plans to cap the # of users here, or just letting it grow?

@ImaBMe OpenCollective offers PayPal as payment option?

I'll just let it grow some more, as long as the hardware and team can handle it..

@ruud thank you, great work! It's working really well
@ruud Since this is my first instance, I have no comparison, but my impression is that everything runs smooth. Thank you for all you do to make this possible!
@ruud Amazing job scaling and I'm thrilled to be here!
@ruud kicked in some money to support your efforts. Amazed at the donation to user ratio. < 300 for > 100k users! The Mastodon experience is real breath of fresh air. Appreciate the work you put in to keep .world running well.
@oceandweller Thank you! We actually have almost 4000,- EUR in Patreon and OpenCollective combined, which is awesome. It allows us to scale, and keep that up for at least half a year.
@ruud ah, didn’t consider Patreon.  Very good!
