Americans should name mass shootings the way they do hurricanes but after Republicans who accept payments from the NRA.
@Strandjunker The only problem with that idea is that there're so many mass shootings every year that they'll run out of politicians too quickly and have to go to numbers as well like they do with their yachts.
@MrTChace @Strandjunker There are plenty of School Board members banning books and making life hard for lgbqt kids I’m sure we can find enough names.
@MrTChace @Strandjunker
Then we can start with the supporters
@Strandjunker We should name this one after Libs of TikTok, Chris Rufo, or Tucker Carlson.
@Strandjunker Maybe the closest Republican member of Congress?
@Strandjunker footnoted with the bible verse that inspired the killer.
@TheStormcrow @Strandjunker
If a Bible verse isn't applicable... use Daily Wire, Breitbart, OANN, or Fox News talking head quotes.
@Strandjunker Excellent idea! Let's start with Bozo-Boebert who posted that psycho family pic today.
@Strandjunker they need to stop saying the name and showing the photos of these monsters. Stop giving them the notoriety they seek by doing these heinous crimes. Focus on the victims instead.
@Strandjunker this would only matter if the leaders in question could feel shame. In fact that’s the root problem with Republicans right now. They have forsaken shame in a desire to hold onto power and they’ve found it to be a winning strategy.
@boiglenoight @Strandjunker They don't feel shame, guilt or any real human emotions...well, that's not entirely true. They're great at hate, anger, envy, fear and paranoia. Empathy and altruism are concepts they cannot comprehend.
@marklscott @Strandjunker bingo. I dunno if evil exists, but sorry people certainly do.
@Strandjunker @boiglenoight Well, shame is on you not in you. It's not required for them to feel it to take effect.
@Daseinsappeal @Strandjunker I wish that were the case. These leaders are heaped with such from media, moral authorities, and it does little to sway their behavior. Instead they lean into it, attack the attacker, and that builds a certain kind of base of followers to replace the traditional ones we're used to.
@Strandjunker Based on location alone - this one is the Boebert shooting.
@Strandjunker my wife always wanted to throw a mannequin onto Chuck Heston's lawn for each person killed by a firearm, with that person's name and age written on it.
@MrFriendlyWalk @Strandjunker That could be a good public action
@princelysum @Strandjunker I always thought so too. Heston is gone but LaPierre or Loesch could easily sub in.
@Strandjunker 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
@Strandjunker Fabulous idea. Let’s call this the Ted Cruz massacre.
@Strandjunker
💯 I like this idea, but I don’t think they have the self-correcting sense of shame.
@Strandjunker We would need a much larger Alphabet!
@Strandjunker Boebert should be first... we know how she loves her guns.
@Strandjunker We would run out quickly. Not because there’s so few Republicans but because there’s so many shootings.
@Strandjunker It is indeed such a sad state of affairs that this is now "routine" in this country. Disagree with a group of folks? Gun violence in the only idea. Whatever happened to the idea of the great melting pot that I was taught in grade school??

@abihari @Strandjunker
the melting pot was smashed into splinter groups, mainly by democraps and the like, who spend much of their time squabbling with each other over minutiae. meanwhile, the rethuglicans stuck with their (admittedly simple minded) messaging.

this also sheds light on the dems uncanny ability to snatch defeat out of the very jaws of victory.

plus, appointing the NRA as *the* villain ignores the fact that only a very small percentage of gun owners are NRA members.

@howlinhobbit @Strandjunker Very valid points and I do agree that pointing fingers at a single group as the reason/key for all the issues is silly and useless. My concern with the state of politics right now is that it's so Us vs Them that there's no way for folks to bridge the ever growing divide. Also the amount of misinformation that's being brewed is just insane on all fronts.

@abihari
can’t disagree too strenuously here. I do think we *could* bridge the divide, but we’re going to have to make hard structural changes first.

the largest issue is the idea that politics are like sportball games, with elections treated like the superbowl (or its ilk), & the rest of the year is dedicated to pom pom shaking in your team color. nobody pays attention to independents/3rd parties, even though we outnumber the Ds and Rs (though not both together). I have a list but…

@Strandjunker Not enough names to list all of them.
@Strandjunker name the district rep and senator(s) if they accept NRA donations
@Strandjunker by the most prominent pro NRA politician in the state or are. In Texas we would have the TedCruz, GregAbbott and the DanPatrick, just to name a few.
Remember that some dems are also pro NRA so we can't just call this a GOP list.
@Strandjunker There aren’t that many Republicans

@Strandjunker I can see it now: Luigi will come jumping in, calling out,

"Rubio...! Rubio...! Rubio...! "

@Strandjunker if we started calling the victims soldiers and the killers Commies; go a long way to end this ‘war’ on ourselves.
Mass Shootings should be numbered annually and list the number of victims.
MS-1 24 killed at … Releasing autopsy photos would help. Billboard the autopsy photos. People need to see what they conveniently ignore to forget these tragedies @Strandjunker
@Strandjunker which mass shooting is the Donald Trump?
@Strandjunker This is the content I'm here for!😂
