I'm taking part in the @ucu strike action across UK universities, for fair pay & pensions, secure contracts and equality.

I work in IT - I'm not a lecturer. Many other staff are taking part in this.

It's not easy, but things really must change.

But, a picket line is more social interaction than I can handle. Instead, I've donated to the fighting funds (local and national).

many of the folks striking have serious mental health difficulties either directly because of working conditions or at least made worse by those conditions. the sector is not kind to ND folks either. I hope those out on picket lines today understand that some of their colleagues would be there if they could. even folks who seem just fine in meetings etc can be heavily masking their actual state.
