recommend me a good Android Mastodon client. can it do photos and video?

@tubetime I've heard Tusky is one of the best ones you can get on Android.

I'm an iOS user, though, so I can't personally vouch to the experience.

@dragonarchitect @tubetime It's the competent one right now. It's way behind what you would expect a good third-party Reddit client would do for you but it has all the official features the official app does not have, and I did not experience any bugs or issues with it. Tusky is the recommendation for sure 100%

@dragonarchitect @tubetime I've used Tusky, it's a lot better than the official Android client, but most recently I've just been using the mobile web interface installed as an icon on my home screen.

Tbh the mobile web interface is great, and it means you get any new features (following hashtags, editing posts, etc) as soon as your instance admin updates, because you're using the instance directly.

@tubetime in no particular order: @Tusky , @apps , @mastodos .
@tubetime Subway Tooter can do photos very well, never tried video but I suspect it can, it has a habit of supporting features as soon as they are available

@tubetime
I've been enjoying https://fedilab.app/ by @apps

Yes for photos, but I don't see an option for video

Fedilab

@tubetime The official app does not have local or federated timelines. (allegedly because of the 'app store' policies regarding moderation). There's a fork of the Mastodon app that adds these features back. (you just need to side load the .apk rather than install it from Google Play)

@tubetime i use Tusky and have mixed feelings, my main gripe is that it does not show number of boosts and favorites in the timeline you have to open the toot for that
@tubetime I can post photos with tusky. Not tried video.
@tubetime video does not work great though. It seems like you cannot directly capture one from the app and sometimes there are issues with playback.

@tubetime fedilab on f-droid, you can create another instance's (without a user) timeline too

and tusky it's ok if you don't want to install f-droid
