despite everything, i find that i still love the computing machine
it’s pretty cool how we made them, and they work
also you can use it to do stuff, i guess (that part’s less interesting to me)
@eliza it depends on the stuff! doing things that i enjoy with the computing machine is great!
@selectric i like using the computer to make stuff for using the computer to do stuff
@selectric on the other hand, some people like to use it to do emails, which is less interesting to me
@eliza @selectric I make organic computers fetch me a Red Bull in the morning
@jona @selectric do you also use them to do emails?
@eliza @jona no, that's what emacs is for
@eliza @selectric Oh heavens yes! As well as my collation, tabulation, spreadsheets, I mean, these little guys (gals? things?) are just so delightful in the ways they prostrate themselves before me, handling all my menial tasks!
@jona @selectric that seems better than when i have to do emails!

@eliza @selectric Emails really are the lifeblood of my organisation. Without them, how could I possibly say things like "as per my previous missive, I would like to increase dronification growth rate by at least 3.5% by end of Q1 2023"?

The drones are for typing emails, and the pneumatic tubes are for transporting the drones. That's just how things work around here.

@jona @eliza hang on hang on hang on, you've got pneumatic tubes and you're not sending interdepartmental memos or interdepartmental sandwiches through them in those little cylinders like banks have? screw the drones, that'd be way better than emails
@selectric @eliza We had to get rid of all the interdepartmental mail tubes to make room for the drone tubes! It's just better economically if we're using the same kind of tube for all of our identical cargo!
@jona @eliza yeah i guess you could have one of them hold the mail while they're in the tube, couldn't you
@jona can I apply for this position?
@lithiumsulfate Gosh, of course! I'll let you know as soon as the position is posted!

@eliza @selectric we like to send emails to our queer friends

we do not like to get random spam from gmail servers to addresses that never existed

@atax1a @eliza i should send my friends more emails.
@eliza metacomputing: when the normal stuff just isn't enough
@selectric sometimes you don’t like the way that other people thought the computer should do stuff, because you have the soul of a rebellious teenager
