top 10 roadtrips
@saj take a left at rickenbach, head straight towards rickenbach, make a right at rickenbach and then a left 3 rickenbachs down and you're there
@saj how long is this route? I want to do this
@uint8_t about 420 km (disregard the previous answer, i just realized i fucked up the order of the one in Austria)
@saj traveling salesperson problem but it's all Rickenbach
@saj @uint8_t that could be a Tour de France stage.
@saj I know thank “bach” means “stream, little river”, but what about “ricken”? Is “Rickenbach” a play of words?
@panapp
no, a Rick is just an old swiss word for a geographical feature (a narrow, elongated trough alongside a mountain slope, from what i've gathered) which incidentally is a common place to find creeks. the word has since fallen out of use from what i know. these are all settlements named "Rickenbach" though! there are numerous streams called that in different places nearby too
@saj So it is something like “Rivercreek”! I see, thank you for the info, I’d like to do this nice tour someday.
@saj @panapp I thought the name comes from "Ricke", the female deer. Your explanation makes more sense.
@saj Are you Holmes, or Moriarty? LOL
@saj this looks like a fun motorcycling route!
@saj Zevenhuizen in the Netherlands is also a good one!

@saj

Alle Wege führen nach Rickenbach. Lol.

@saj at least once Liechtenstein is huge
@saj I'm imagining the Animaniacs country song but with Rickenbarks
@saj Rickenbach (Hotzenwald) is the climax.

@saj I found a few more

had to split it into two routes because google maps limits it to 10 stops per trip.

Bevor Sie zu Google Maps weitergehen

@Riedler yes, there are actually more
however, these are mostly creeks and i limited myself to only settlements called Rickenbach, as there would be wayyy too many of the former

as proof of that, here's me crossing a Rickenbach that was so far unmentioned by either of us, in the train I'm sitting in right now

@saj Rickenbach is, of course, named after Rick Astley.
