Over the next few weeks, I will be going through the foundations of what the build soil project is about and how we can lend help to existing efforts to build a better world together

Some of this will be review for people who have already been following the buildsoil Twitter account.

for many years, I’ve worked in community and on various projects and my mentors encouraged me to start giving to others what has been given to me.

The desire in recent years for ecological designers to make themselves apart from and separate from and special is a detriment to a world that actually works for us all.

most of what we know has been brought to us through generations of work, trial and error and terrible historical processes, moving forward, requires acknowledgment, understanding, humility, and care

There’s a lot to see and a lot to do, but let me begin with the following fact. At least 80% of the worlds biodiversity that remains is maintained, cared for, and carried forward by indigenous communities around the world. The long-term human care of the world is the true Anthropocene And the majority of extinction and the loss of unique forms of awareness that is represented by biodiversity is largely a product of colonial landscapes, and the plantationoceae.
But this is not a reason to hesitate. It is a reason to engage with the explicit purpose of supporting and lending a hand to a long-term project of maintaining and repairing the world. We did not start the controlled burns, and they’ve been always burning.
There is so much to do in this world, and we, in our limited time, cannot tend to the parts of it that are in our spheres, and we can do that in a way that is respectful and regarding of others who have been walking this path for a long time
