@jentaub do other nations and cultures have their children perform in beauty pageants? I’ll bet it’s just a weird American thing.
@jentaub yes a perfect example of grooming young girls.
@jentaub
Good point.
The pageants sexualize children. That is perverse.
@jentaub well put. Never thought of it that way.
Ps this is from a straight married man. Never been to a drag show. Not interested but you are absolutely correct.
@jentaub it’s funny how they keep those little beauty pageants under the radar. It’s time to expose them.
@LadyLiberty5591 @jentaub is it part of ‘southern culture’? Just who.. who does this?
@usanchor @jentaub it is questionable southern culture.
@jentaub This right here. Why don't they see the comparison? Why don't they care?
@jentaub Talk about “groomers”!! Also seems a metric ton of these pageants are in areas where the MTG’s of the country live..jus sayin
@jentaub Right? Grown men dressing up like glamorous women is bad but dressing children up like glamorous women against their will like they're dolls... for competitions is just fine?

@kirkiscool @jentaub it’s not bad… there’s nothing wrong with it. It’s been depicted in movies and theatre for decades & centuries, respectively. For the longest time, male actors performed the female roles as women were not acceptable on the stage.

Tony Curtis
Jack lemon
Dozens of others on the silver screen

@jentaub Few things creep me out more than child beauty pageants.
@jentaub I re-watched "Little Miss Sunshine" recently, and was creeped out by the entire last quarter of the film.
@jentaub and yet the Christian Right says nothing about that. #hypocrites
@Lauriebruno @jentaub and risk getting their wives mad at them?
@jentaub Don't get me started on ballet...

@jentaub Its certainly one of the creepiest and sickest things parents engage in.

It smacks heavily of child abuse and very unsavory voyeurism by adults who need to get a life. I've only heard of it happening in the US.

@jentaub ding ding ding dinnng
@jentaub On a side note, lets stop reacting to posts from Twitter.
@jentaub It should… over on the blue bird, they’re still debating this. Look at Pee-wee’s playhouse. We had so much fun watching it as kids, and it had its roots a hundred percent in drag.

@jentaub

These people who go on about "drag shows" would be apopletic about British parents. Every year, 000's of parents take their children to see a pantomime, which invariably includes several fellas wearing women's clothes and makeup. And let's not go on about Shakespeare's plays, where males played all roles

https://theconversation.com/why-werent-women-allowed-to-act-in-shakespeares-plays-177804#:~:text=This%20is%20because%20when%20Shakespeare,servant%20and%20diarist%20Samuel%20Pepys.

Why weren't women allowed to act in Shakespeare's plays?

It may have had something to do with protecting female purity. No official statute clearly required men to do all the acting back then.

@BalmyBalmer @jentaub the fake conservatives had no issue with this.. or accepting Howard stern calling her “a piece of ass”.

If that was the only pic, one could give him the benefit of the doubt…

But there was another pic,, and another..and

@BalmyBalmer @jentaub pictures of Ivanka and TFG are so creepy.

@jentaub
Pageants should be outlawed and drag shows are offensive, same as blackface. As a woman, I find them appauling and derisive.
@jentaub I'm deadset against child beauty pageants.
@jentaub I'm still scarred from watching Little Miss Sunshine! 😆
@jentaub You are so right.
The things parents allow done to little girls is beyond my comprehension.
Spray tans, hair color, fake eyelashes. All on girls as young as four.
Measurements matter and often the “evening gowns” are incredibly seductive.
Unfortunately, this is teaching innocent kids that outward beauty is not only very important, but a commodity to be used to get ahead.
@jentaub the sick irony that JonBennet was both a contestant and a Coloradoan victim.
@jentaub --Honestly, I always likened drags shows to the modern version of the Elizabethan Era Shakespearean plays. Men played all the roles including women during those times.

@jentaub I agree. And dog shows exploit puppies with unreasonable body shapes.

Just pet us. We are all cute! 🐶

@jentaub but can you guarantee someone’s safety? Especially a live shooter scenario?
@jentaub the pageantry suggested
Here seems to me is motivated by conformist ideals.
When it becomes sexual then that's the product of insecurity and jealousy.

@druskisa

No. You are not a woman and will never really don’t know what this is about. Putting make up on girls to make them look like adult women is sexualization and grooming.

@jentaub @druskisa Just do a quick image search for "girl beauty pageant" and you'll see just how perverse they are.
@jentaub agreed. I am of the opinion that pageants are gross and only lead to kids not feeling good about who they are without all that polish. Let kids/people be who they are. Our society has effed up so many with unrealistic beauty standards and it’s sad.
@jentaub It would be better to stop both.
