Oh, on the subject of reading, I'm firmly on the side of lots of things are reading and reading is an open activity everyone who wants to should be free to enjoy and we all lose when we start making up rules that keep people out of storytelling and engagement with art.

Comic books are reading. Audiobooks are reading. Having someone read to you, or listening to someone read out loud is reading. It's reading even if you don't understand it, and it's reading if it's "too easy" for you, or too hard. It's reading if it's fancy and it's reading if it's smut.

If given a choice between reading and listening to someone tell you you aren't reading correctly, I advise stop listening to the someone and go read however it is you do it.

When someone says „Scientists do not want you to know“ you can dismiss everything from there on. Scientists want you to know. They are desperate that you know. They can’t shut up about what they found out and want you to know.

A little bit of cheerful whimsy for dark times… There’s a small community park that I bike through some mornings. Someone has set up a gnome village & updates it with seasonal decor. Here’s the latest.

My bike parking this morning was suboptimal - at a smoking shelter, but at least under cover and a good railing to lock to. Took a bike lane that has typically been great but today was blocked by a lawn crew, who felt totally comfortable parking there because there’s no enforcement. #BikeTooter

Unexpectedly, about to enter our family’s carfree era. We’ve been talking about this for a while and working towards it. But now our car needs some work to be safe to drive + we got a pretty good offer to sell it, so that’s what we’re doing. Not what I expected from this week, but life comes at you fast. It will be nice to not have it sitting out in front of our house, taking up space.
