I have a big butt and I cannot lie! 😂

3 water butts fitted. I was doing so well until it got to cutting the down pipe to fit the diverted kit. I got nervous about stuffing it up, so called my dad!

(awaiting the Mastodon response as when I posted on t’other place about having put together my compost bins I got abuse from someone I didn’t follow about them being plastic & told I was ‘virtue signalling’! FYI the bins and water butts are all 100% recycled plastic!) #gardening #DroughtProofing

@lilmsmally wow. i wish i could have that as well. in israel it's forbidden by law to store rain water. you can store bought water, but not a big amount. i feel this contribute greatly to my feeling of unsafety.

@nebuchi down to the different climates in our countries I suppose. We get loads of rain in the winter but last year in summer ended up with hose pipe ban as it was so dry.

@lilmsmally yeah, it sort of, kinda, makes sense, but i still have an issue with it. i do water recycling for my house plants though - simply reuse the dirty bath and sink water. i honestly think everyone should do it. it's easy and ecologically important.

@nebuchi @lilmsmally @houseplants @plants
nebuchi, is the theory that people will be taking water that should go into the soil, or something? Especially makes no sense in a city, unless I'm missing something?
@cohanf @lilmsmally @houseplants @plants yes, well, the theory (if I understand it correctly) is that this water is 'the state water', 'collective water' and for any specific individual to take for themselves 🤷🏻‍♂️
@nebuchi @lilmsmally @houseplants @plants that is reasonable only if the state is making sure runoff in cities is being properly channelled etc- not going into waste water.. lots of questions...lol.. I think some states in U.S. have this policy also.
@cohanf @houseplants @plants @nebuchi fascinating discussion, UK is wet and rainy and many of us are on water meters for our homes so using rainwater saves money. (My water butts are now full after 2 wet days!)
