One of the most important strategic policy decisions any city hall makes is passing a municipal budget. Hundreds of policy decisions are embedded in a #budget. What’s overfunded, what’s underfunded, what’s not funded at all.
You can find more truth in a city’s budget that in any vision statement or council-approved goal statement. Too many cities have budgets and visions that are completely inconsistent, or at best, not consistent enough.

@BrentToderian most US cities aspire to be police states it seems.
@BrentToderian If a City can formally agree that bikes and buses should have a higher priority than cars, couldn't it be argued that they should make sure their budget reflects that? For every $X for an extra lane or overpass, shouldn't they commit to $2X for bike lanes and bus routes?
@garykrysztopik @BrentToderian I’d be thrilled to see $0.10 on the dollar. Besides bike/bus infra is so much more efficient we’d still win.
@BrentToderian for priorities it is definitely the budget, but for EDI it's the committee and board selection you need to keep an eye on. #EDI #urbano

@BrentToderian #yyc is about to vote on a 4-year. I hope it is visionary around creating a livable sustainable human city.
@BrentToderian Love this and wonder if #LiverpoolCouncil and #WirralCouncil have seen this? As a Scouser now living on the Dark side (star wars fan) I follow both Councils as I spend on both sides of the River Mersey
@BrentToderian As Chair of my little town's Planning Board for the past decade, I approve this message.
