"All eyes should now be on the investigation in Fulton County, Georgia. Pay attention to [Fani] Willis. She seems to have the courage of her convictions, and not the hesitating Hamlet habit of Attorney General Garland."

Justice is Delayed as Mr. Smith Goes to Washington

Does the appointment of a special counsel in the Trump cases mean justice denied? Merrick Garland’s appointment of Jack Smith is hardly comforting.

@jentaub Always trust a woman to get things done!
@jentaub but will Kemp just pardon him?

@VWinsloe

In Georgia, Governors cannot pardon convicts. An applicant must wait at least 5 years and a review board must decide.

@jentaub Thanks so much. That's excellent!
@jentaub Garland is going out of his way not to be like Barr, who was pretty much Trump's Attorney General. The Department of Justice used to be an independent body. Turns out the IRS was Trump's IRS, especially what he did to Gabe and Comey. This could be the first time a former president is indicted. Jack Smith will be busy. I think he is this country's best bet at getting the elusive former president indicted.
@jentaub Big fan of Willis and the Attorney General in New York.

@johnemenecker @jentaub

Indeed setting the precedent of indicting a former president is weighty enough not to jump into it without having every single shred of evidence checked, re-checked, and re-checked again. The case has to be as tight as tight can be, otherwise, we will see Joe Biden indicted within weeks of a new new Republican president. Or maybe Obama. Surely, Hillary. The party screaming "politization of the DOJ!" are the ones who will wield it precisely that way henceforth.

@jentaub aaand Governor Kemp will pardon Trump et al for the Fulton county case. House Republicans will defund DOJ. Supreme court allready voided the voting rights act (because no one impedes Voting anymore), why keep a DOJ that was created to stop lynchings.

@Breathe

In Georgia Governor cannot issue pardons. An applicant must wait 5 years after release to even apply to the review board

@jentaub thank you for clarifying. I thought all Governors could pardon at will. I am now enlightened otherwise.🙂
@jentaub
Even if this comes to fruition, won’t Brian Kemp just pardon Trump in 0.5 seconds?

@blabble22

No. The governor of Georgia does not have part in power

@jentaub I totally agree Jen Garland
Is weak and afraid of his own
Shadow, putting another #Muller on us
@jentaub i think this is the right thing for them to do. Garland is at the end of the day a political appointee, and any investigation that he undertakes will inevitably be associated with Biden's administration and politics. This allows them to try to put some distance between the two.
@jentaub (I should note I'm definitely not an expert, just an observer)
@jentaub Thank you for your article. My hope is in good winning out over bad. This is so upside down. Terrible people on our courts, terrible legislators, a former President that kept most of us in terror for 4 plus years. And so many of them have not suffered any legal repercussions. I just have to keep hope alive. But understood, hope is not a strategy. With that said, Willis could be the one!

@jentaub

“Hesitating Hamlet habit,” lol!
