Here's what's going to happen, as more from Twitter come to Mastodon. Most will be basically decent and good, because most are โ€” but there will be others too. They'll say they're exercising freedom of speech, and when censured, they'll accuse their own accusers of prejudice, and intolerance, and fragility. They will say that their freedom of speech is being curtailed. They will use our own language, but in service of themselves.
@mattgemmell TBH I'm more wary of people tooting their corporate/business pitch horns (which I've seen already). Either they're here to share actual benefit and have real conversations or we might as well flag marketing stuff as heavily.
@rcarmo No reason for you to have to see commercial advertising here if you donโ€™t want to, absolutely. I guess the wrinkle is small/independent creators for whom grassroots marketing is their only means to making a living (holding my hand up !).

@mattgemmell yeah, but that's fine. You, like @cstross, have a voice and readership. And I have a lot of friends in #gamedev, and they are severely impacted by the comparatively smaller reach here. I just don't like the corporate shilling that brought us the tech hype waves.

(Plus you're a Scotsman, and that's always a plus in my book - I love Edinburgh...)
