I'm curious about the extent of political diversity in the mainstream Fediverse.

If you're in the U.S, which is the best match for your political identity?

@conradhackett I'm not in the US (UK here) but I'm a little surprised the number of Republicans joining is so low. I thought the migration was more to do with Musk and his approach to running Twitter than any political affiliation.

If it is more about politics it raises the question of why people didn't leave in protest when Trump was active. The fake news over there was just as bad back then and Mastodon hasn't suddenly appeared.

@Dawkinsdog @conradhackett this is different. Trump had a ton of critics and the journalists and people I followed gave a great review of what was going on. As in, how could a corrupt brute like that get 70m votes.

But now my feed was altered - I only was getting MAGA Rep tweets, no balance, almost all conspiracy theories. So I deactivated my account and switched to Mastodon, although I also signed up for Post as well to see what that’s like.

@Mark768 @conradhackett Oddly I've not noticed much difference in what I see over there. There's the usual flood of rightwing responders to the likes of Keith Olbermann, but that's been the case for a long time. Maybe it's a geographic issue, being outside the US it's possible they spare me the worst of it.

I'm still on Twitter, for now. I joined here so I'd somewhere from which to watch the RMS Titanicsscrewup sinking.
