Finished #Sandman on #Netflix last night. Great central performance by #TomSturridge . Probably the most faithful comics adaptation I''ve ever seen, with most episodes precisely matching a comics issue by @neilhimself and his various artists. I wonder what other comics series could support such a faithful issue-by-issue adaptation? @RanaldClouston Watchmen (the film from 2009) was pretty close to the original.

@GeorgWeissenbacher I didn't see that, but my understanding was that they cut all the pirate stuff out, which is a surprisingly large part of the comics.

@RanaldClouston @GeorgWeissenbacher They also changed the ending of the Watchman story to make Dr Manhattan the external threat the world rallies against rather than an alien telepathic squid. I loved that the TV series brought that plot element back without any comment.

@GeorgWeissenbacher @RanaldClouston there is a version that includes it. Biggest failing of the movie is they balked at the psychic squid monster.
