Great little documentary on by ABC News yesterday, “The Challenging Struggle of Long Covid,” https://youtu.be/lGGtXpSpiJY

They cite the statistic of 9 million people with #LongCovid, presumably referring just to the U.S. population. That is a lot of adversity and #disability being experienced by our fellow citizens. Most Americans have had #covid now, and at least 5% of those are left with long-term consequences of it.

The worst #publichealth crisis of a generation, and yet largely ignored.

@edsuom Long Covid wasn't necessarily ignored, it was deprioritized to minimize perception of risk. They would have been aware of the potential of crushing pathogenic coronavirus sequelae from two decades of weapons-adjacent research. Part of it is self-serving dereliction, but part of it was also hubris--the 'we need a pill' attitude has dug us into an incredibly deep hole and it'll be a long time before we develop the praxis to get out, if ever... we may not even have the time.
