If you were starting a Mastodon account for an NGO, what topic instances would be relevant in your opinion?

[I am looking for recommendations of instances, eg https://eupolicy.social ]

Do you know any good and active communities focused on #Environment #HumanRights #ClimateChange #Cycling #Feminism #BLM #BlackLivesMatter #GlobalSouth and other topics? #Mastodon

EUpolicy.social - A Mastodon server for the EU bubble

This Mastodon server is a friendly and respectful discussion space for people working in areas related to EU policy. When you request to create an account, please tell us something about you.

@jim ad-tech based surveillance, govt surveillance, fintech transactional privacy, edtech surveillance and student privacy
@jim if you want to do it “right”, I think the organisation should have its own instance, like https://social.network.europa.eu
EU Voice

EU Voice is the official ActivityPub platform of the EU institutions. With EU Video, it is part of an alternative social media pilot proposed and provided by the European Data Protection Supervisor.

@Floppy This will be something I recommend, but I suspect the people I will be speaking to will be very new and need a simpler starting point.

I would like to recommend some interesting subject servers as an alternative to signing up to the larger servers.

@jim @Floppy

We do need to start thinking about instances working together. We have started linking to other #NGO instance on https://campaign.openworlds.info/about

And starting to talk to instances about "common" tags.

Mastodon as a codebase is not making this easy at mo.

@Floppy @jim

I have been looking into creating this for www.ywf.world.

But I dont know if the logistics required to maintain a server like this can be handled effectively by a single person?

@PabloGdM @Floppy Logisitics for MaaS (Mastodon as a service) are trivial; the logistics are in the administration. That can be shared among members of a community, for instance.
