I posted the same poll on Twitter and on Mastodon. Got 50% more engagements on Mastodon, despite the fact that I have 5.4 times more followers on Twitter. Engagement per follower was therefore 8.3 times higher on Mastodon.
@tmalsburg Related observation: I had 11 times more Twitter followers than I have Mastodon followers, but I am follow more others on Mastodon than I did on Twitter. #TwitterExodus #TwitterMigration #TwitterEscape
@tmalsburg Similar experience here. I got 60+ votes on a poll here, and 20 on Twitter. I have 1300 followers here, 3200 on Twitter. I think the algorithm here is more egalitarian, if that makes sense.
@nino @tmalsburg I don't think it's even doing much of an algorithm, since each timeline shows you everything that's eligible to be on it in chronological order. But tbh I've got wbout 50 followers both places and the difference is even starker then lol
@sparksbet @tmalsburg Now you have one more :) .. And yeah, I can imagine, it probably feels like a more cohesive community here then.
@tmalsburg This is, even on my first day on Mastodon, the same experience i have made today.
