Hello everyone- like many here I suspect- I’m very new to Mastadon, and have followed the exodus from Twitter. I’m the Collections Librarian at the PMI Victorian History Library in Melbourne. I’ve really enjoyed the GLAM community I’ve been part of through other social media so I’m looking forward to connecting with other GLAM folks, both known and unknown, and sharing ideas.

@biblioell Welcome to Mastodon, Ellen! I'm looking forward to learning more about how this place works. So far it seems to be halfway between Twitter and Discord? Confusing, but not overwhelmingly so.

And we get a lot more characters for our posts! What's the probiscidean equivalent of tweets? Toots?

@thelibarryan thanks Michael- yeah I think that’s a good analogy. I’m sure we’ll all find our feet especially if the transition becomes permanent and yes I think they are actually called toots
