Nearly time to get back to work so I’m sharing some garden joy 🥹

These poppies only bloom for a day and then shed petals. My reward this week.

A couple of Image transfer mono prints from experiments today. The first is an experiment in collage mono print the second is an image transfer with a colour wash titled ‘the fire’. First time experimenting with the gel printing plate. #monoprints #collageart #printmaking

Of Fritz Lang's Metropolis, the critic Siegfried Kracauer wrote that 'the Americans relished its technical excellence; the English remained aloof; the French were stirred by a film which seemed to them a blend of Wagner and Krupp, and on the whole an alarming sign of Germany's vitality.' By Wagner, Kracauer of course meant the composer; Krupp referred to the arms manufacturer Friedrich Krupp AG.

I love abandoned buildings. The original mini-comic versions of my comic series Incredible Doom featured locations from the comic abandoned and rotting, partially because I just wanted to draw them that way.

If you like this stuff as much as I do, you should follow @AbandonedAmerica #abandoned #art

Aus library and info people - could you get your LIS friends to fill in the ALIA membership survey (which confusingly you don’t need to be a member to fill out)? Your chance to set my workplan for next year…. ;)

But I'm not all sure we're sunk just yet.

It seems to me is that what is happening is that AI systems are creeping their way up Bloom's Taxonomy (image under CC license from Vanderbilt University Center for Teaching).

With GPT3 and the likes, they've gone from being good at looking stuff up (level 1, remember) to being able *fake* (level 2, understanding.)

An aside: they don't actually *understand* anything, though this is a separate thread.
