@dillpickle @LiberalTalkingPoints @tristen They've done a ton of good for me? I'm disabled and queer. Isolation kills people like me, and that's gleefully weaponized by fascists. The people who make it possible for me to exist publicly are the ones who speak up. People do calibrate their speech around what they think others will tolerate. If conversations are just fascists and silence, they're emboldened, and we're shut out. If this isn't your style of activism, that's fine. You don't have to participate. But your activism is not the only type with value, and I'd only ask that you not disparage people for playing to different strengths.

If you wanna spam the feed with reblogs of crappy memes, celebrity pearl clutching, and the other “omg so true” crap that made Twitter so intolerable, then stay on Twitter. That’s not activism, that’s garbage that makes a server toxic and unusable.

And you won't tolerate me if I'm more than my activism, if that's not the center of what I have to say or how I want to form connections with people? Ah, what a pickle for us both! I'm electing to stay right here, though I certainly don't expect you to subscribe to me. I think we'd both be the sadder for it. You may find some comfort, perhaps, in knowing that my mere existence, let alone my happiness and ability to chat and joke with other people as peers, makes a lot of fascists not just angry but existentially afraid. I think that's beautiful.
