Visited the #allotment today and did a few jobs around our 2 plots. Cut down the #dahlias on our flowerbed on our second plot we were offered last November. The flowerbed was just four foot nettles this time last year and they're still popping up here and there, but I pop them in a dustbin that's slowly filling with rain water for a lovely feed next year. We pulled the comfrey leaves up from the bed we have at the front of the original plot we took on last June and added them to the mix.
@cazbie16 oh I love this idea! Will they steep in the bucket all winter?
@redhouseproject yes, I'll just leave it to it. If it overflows the flowers around it will get a feed lol. The only thing I might do is put some chicken wire over the top to stop anything falling in. I have a roll of it next to the bin that I was given ready to use. The bin has no lid so I need to do something for safety.
@cazbie16 This is brilliant, and is making me want to get up and find a bin that I can put comfrey in right now. Thanks for that, because I was kicking myself for getting into such a bad mood this week that I neglected all my frost-sensitive plants, and the weather dipped to 25. Now I have a touch of inspiration to go check on things.
@redhouseproject aaw, glad to be of service. The rain the last few weeks here has really stopped me going and I miss being there. Although less to do this year thankfully lol.
