this site makes me feel like a boomer
@ryanbroderick it ain’t the site
@anildash I was told that this was a place for constructive conversation!!!
@ryanbroderick I am making it for shitposts, it’s called innovation
@ryanbroderick Me too. Trying to follow you took me far longer than I want to admit to.

@ryanbroderick Hey man, I think it’s understandable to be skeptical starting out but I think it’s also worth listening right now.

A good early follow is @ajroach42, who has not only has he been here forever, he does interesting stuff and posts about it often. He started a community TV station recently that is being self-hosted outside of YouTube.

@ryanbroderick

A couple other followers I recommend who have been here longer than five minutes:

- @schlink (programming)
- @stevelord (retro/solarpunk)
- @vkc (YouTuber, Linux focus)
- @tchambers (Mastodon admin, posts a lot about fediverse trends)
- @Kye (Really plugged in over here, one of my fave recent follows)

@ryanbroderick 👋🏻 Hey Ryan, welcome to the party. This place is certainly like twitter in the early days. No algorithm, no ads, basic features, everyone just enjoying a good time.

IMO if you approach it in that mindset, you’ll find there’s a lot of good here.

@ryanbroderick boosting because I read your stupid newsletter and really enjoy it

@ryanbroderick Yeah, but I've been weirdly settling into that feeling in an affirming (I think) way. I feel secure in how slowly I'm taking it. The majority of those I'm following are still on the cool little instance of archaeologists and I'm veeerrry slooowly adding to that with naturalists painting watercolors of birds and various other idiosyncratic, worthwhile weirdos across the fediverse.

I'm a garbage day subscriber, btw, and glad to see you here.

@ryanbroderick Yeh. It’s an odd little site with a clunky UX but it’s also best place I found so far for genuine engagement
