We have decided to create an account at Mastodon. We need time to learn how this platform works but also how to synchronize our work here with the Twitter account.

Thank you all for joining us here. No matter where we are, the mission stays the same. We are in social media to commemorate the victims of Auschwitz and educate the world about the tragic story of the camp.

@auschwitzmuseum Follow you on @Twitter, for however long that lasts. Glad to see you here. Your posts are necessary reading for their often tragic human stories and essential education. They remind us of the depths to which humans can fall, providing a warning to all future generations.
@auschwitzmuseum welcome! And thank you for all the important work that you're doing 🙏🏻
@auschwitzmuseum Some users block syncing, retweets from Twitter, using the filters available for that purpose...
@auschwitzmuseum so good and important to have you here. Welcome & thank you!
@auschwitzmuseum
Welcome to Mastodon and thank you for your work!
@[email protected] on Twitter

“For everyone else, a reminder that as this site implodes, Mastodon is a good place to preserve your social network as a backup. It's not particularly difficult to set up, and it's pretty similar functionality-wise. Not identical, but very similar. Let's walk through how.”

Twitter
@auschwitzmuseum so good to see you here. Always always never forget. 🙏🏽
@auschwitzmuseum Welcome. I had been a followers of yours for some time on the bird platform. I hope you grow your following here on Mastodon.

The Tamagotchi was the coolest invention around the year that I first started to use the Internet. It was the most basic level of Internet usage, just using my dad’s giant desktop computer to poke…

@auschwitzmuseum welcome.
And thank you for your work.
@auschwitzmuseum — It’s important and great that you’ve joined here, but please *don’t* synchronise in the technical sense your account here with your Twitter account; Mastodon is its own culture with its own ways of people talking to each other, so simply automatically posting everything you do there to here may undermine your important work.In particular, please make good use of the CW wrapper for anything which may ‘irk, vex, upset, or trigger’ the people you want following you
@simon @auschwitzmuseum M-T C is okay, but only if everything is first seen in the ActivityPub world. Twitter-first posting is a recipe for failure.

@simon @auschwitzmuseum To add on to this excellent advice: if you apply the CW wrapper to your posts, it will greatly help you expand the reach of the posts.

That's because many people who would gladly "boost" (retweet) your posts will hesitate to do so without a CW, in order to respect their own followers' ability to choose when to see disturbing material.

@auschwitzmuseum make sure to verify your profile via rel=me https://docs.joinmastodon.org/user/profile/#fields

@auschwitzmuseum Welcome! Could you put a link on https://www.auschwitz.org/ so users can verify that this is an authentic account? (See "Link verification" here: https://docs.joinmastodon.org/user/profile/#fields)
@auschwitzmuseum it is wonderful to see you here and i know many here (I included) will help boost your profile and aid in your migration if we can.
@auschwitzmuseum it is good to see you here. I still not sure if 'like' or giving a star is appropiated for your posts but, for sure, I will relay them. It is an excelent remainder of how a society can change to evil by ignorance and some pp exploiting 'fear of the others'. We are all Humankind.
@auschwitzmuseum Welcome, we must all never forget.
@auschwitzmuseum A very important account. I look at these posts every day and remember the lives cut short.
@auschwitzmuseum Less nazis here than on Musktter...
@auschwitzmuseum
Glad to have you here. You do important work.

@auschwitzmuseum Thankyou for all you do, and for providing an ongoing memorial to all corners of the Internet. Never again.
@auschwitzmuseum Welcome on #fediverse. On hashtag #newhere you can find lot of good tips how to use #mastodon. There are very nice people who can help you if you have questions 🙂.
@auschwitzmuseum There are several Mastodon-Twitter crossposters that will make it easier for you to post on one site and have it replicated on the other, for as long as the other one lasts anyway.
@auschwitzmuseum You do fantastic work - great to see you here!
@auschwitzmuseum It's great you will be here as well.
@auschwitzmuseum this here works well as an automated cross poster: https://crossposter.masto.donte.com.br/

@auschwitzmuseum Very nice, and very important. Maybe it would be a good idea to inform yourselves about content warnings, as I can imagine this is a sensitive topic and maybe triggering for some people. (e.g. Jewish people or relatives of survivors)
@auschwitzmuseum great to have you here !
I have missed your content a lot since I joined Mastodon.
@auschwitzmuseum yours is an important voice. Thanks for joining this community.

@auschwitzmuseum

You are very welcome here. I followed you on the birdsite and I will follow you here. ❤️

@auschwitzmuseum Tks so much for joining us❤️

@auschwitzmuseum Welcome!

As food for thought, I'm going to suggest two things (one more doable than the third)

1) You may want to at some point see about creating your own instance, since that gives a "verified" vibe (that's the harder one, I'll give an option if you want verification)

2) Check out the settings--there's five places for "metadata" where you can add links and such, and a brief idea on how to "verify" based on links

@auschwitzmuseum Entirely appropriate that you should be here.
@auschwitzmuseum biggest difference: You will receive almost no likes for this post. But many many boosts. :D
@auschwitzmuseum So glad to find you here. Your posts have always been for me a treasured, informative, and sobering presence. Welcome.
@auschwitzmuseum excellent! Happy that the Museum has a presence here now!
@auschwitzmuseum
Please go through this simple article. BTW, there is no way you can sync Twitter with this platform.
