We have decided to create an account at Mastodon. We need time to learn how this platform works but also how to synchronize our work here with the Twitter account.

Thank you all for joining us here. No matter where we are, the mission stays the same. We are in social media to commemorate the victims of Auschwitz and educate the world about the tragic story of the camp.

@auschwitzmuseum — It’s important and great that you’ve joined here, but please *don’t* synchronise in the technical sense your account here with your Twitter account; Mastodon is its own culture with its own ways of people talking to each other, so simply automatically posting everything you do there to here may undermine your important work.In particular, please make good use of the CW wrapper for anything which may ‘irk, vex, upset, or trigger’ the people you want following you
@simon @auschwitzmuseum M-T C is okay, but only if everything is first seen in the ActivityPub world. Twitter-first posting is a recipe for failure.

@simon @auschwitzmuseum To add on to this excellent advice: if you apply the CW wrapper to your posts, it will greatly help you expand the reach of the posts.

That's because many people who would gladly "boost" (retweet) your posts will hesitate to do so without a CW, in order to respect their own followers' ability to choose when to see disturbing material.
