Hi! My name is Maíra and I am program manager at Microsoft. I’m responsible for dot.net and I’m one of the hosts of On .NET Live. I’ve been at Microsoft for ~14 years and have worked for 20+ years in tech. I had several different roles throughout the years.
In my personal life, I’m married with 2 boys who I love so much. We’re a football family and big Seahawks fans. We moved to CA 2 years ago and I’m loving to play beach volleyball and beach tennis. I’m originally from Brazil!

#introduction

@mairaw welcome! Thanks for hosting at #dotNETConf! It was great speaking with you.
@XAMLLlama it was great meeting you!

@mairaw - Hi Maira!

I'd love to see .NET be less about Windows, Azure and Visual Studio and more about being the strong technology that it is!

@lostprototype thanks for the feedback. It’s something we’ve been discussing.

@mairaw - Nice! I think if Microsoft can correctly abstract #dotnet away from the companies more.... Uh...product-y tendencies 😆, it would be taken more seriously. Like JVM or Python.

Getting onto #linux was just the start. Now it needs to evolve into a first class non-Windows presence, including for development.

@mairaw - I like to use this scenario as an example:

I pay jetbrains every March for a toolbox license. Because Rider is a first class Linux experience.

That's obviously money Microsoft isn't getting!

Could it win that? Quite possibly! I say this as a paying [whatever 365 office is called this week] customer.

@mairaw oh nice and welcome. I am new here too after a few folks nudged. I should do a intro write up too. 👍
@bahree yes, do it! It’s nice for other folks to learn more about you that didn’t know you from the other platforms.
@mairaw Welcome on in! And hello from over from the Azure SDK Team!
