I want to connect with people who don't think it's weird to carry on buying books when I have 700+ unread ones already.

You are all wonderful, keep hoarding books! I'm gonna go read one now (The Red Scholar's Wake), and I'll try and catch up when the server's calmed down a bit.
@patchworkbunny Is it bad that I want to give you more books to read???
@scifimagpie I surround myself with book-pushers
@patchworkbunny *waves* 766 right now, after a recent fit of realism and getting rid of some that I wasn't likely to ever bother with.
@shanaqui I try to weed them every so often but they keep appearing faster than I can read!
@patchworkbunny there are OTHERS?
@ChilliGal I understand some people buy a book, THEN READ IT? 😱
@patchworkbunny WTAF? They’ll get….foxed
@patchworkbunny
they make good insulation. And impresses visitors.
@patchworkbunny it's not about whether you have 700 unread books. It's whether the books you're looking at call your name. If they call your name, you can't leave them on a shelf all forlorn: you have to buy them and take them home.
@GillianPolack They're so chatty, they're always calling to me.
@patchworkbunny They never shut up. But they can be charming and delightful and wonderful and scary and the more books one owns the better insulated one is.
@patchworkbunny Bookcases/books fit every home decor. The more the better.
@patchworkbunny My TBR isn't judging you. Buy that book!
@patchworkbunny you need at least one bookshelf of unread books in case you get snowed in for 5 to 7 years.... in Australia
@MrAmaimon @patchworkbunny Same! Except *counts on fingers* two commercial (ex-bookshop) cases, two normal person cases, my great-grandmother’s bookcase, and a small stack by the bed. Plus a To Buy list that grows faster than I can read.
@taranipe @MrAmaimon One of my bookshelves had a shelf collapse this year...fortunately half of my TBR is digital otherwise I would be buried in them!
@patchworkbunny @taranipe that reminds me to check my book cases, I've had that happen before
@taranipe @patchworkbunny when to buy lists get to a certain size they stop being a new book threat (unless you start a library) because reading list becomes a novel onto itself and not a purchasing guide for people on a wage
Bookshop shelves, wonder if can get some...
@MrAmaimon I might actually get through them all in that scenario...
@patchworkbunny I would need to live several hundred years to complete my Unread and Partially Read lists :)
@instantkarma80 I have about 6 years of reading at my current rate, I should probably stock up a bit more?
@patchworkbunny @instantkarma80 I have read over 350 books this year and I still have a six year at that rate list. It’s never gonna get any better. πŸ˜‚
@LadyOzma @instantkarma80 if I read at that speed I think I might actually stay on top of my book buying. πŸ™ˆ
@instantkarma80 @patchworkbunny i do a lot of audiobooks. Also, don’t be too impressed. I did this about a year ago when I realized how many shorts and novellas I had. I’ve read plenty of long books but I’ve been trying to plow through all the under 300 like mad. As you can see, I have a long way to go. 1800 books aren’t going to read themselves. πŸ˜‚
@patchworkbunny @HagaBaudR8 @instantkarma80 I am! I’m on just about all the socials with this name. :) if you follow me, make sure I accept your FR. I am swamped so not hanging out a lot there. I need to get back to actually reviewing books. πŸ˜‚

@patchworkbunny Rookie numbers Ellie, up your game πŸ˜‚

I'm just grateful my eReader doesn't get heavier the more I load on to it. Would be a black hole by now.

@patchworkbunny

Nothing weird about expanding your library. Unread books are an asset, not a burden.

Buying a book is paying respect to the book and its author. Building a library is providing a rich environment for reading --- now or in the future, by me or by my friends or by my children. A library with no unread books is not a library.

If I realise I don't like a book and I will never read it, I take it out. The books that stay, unread or read, are part of my dialogue with the world.

@patchworkbunny What's your best unread book? Mine is "The Philosophical Foundations of Neuroscience".
@patchworkbunny Yeah. I'm in. Not weird. I don't know how many unread books I have, but the number is definitely in three digits.
@patchworkbunny that’s me! More books is more good! Ish…
@patchworkbunny wait, I thought weird would be NOT buying more books when you have *some* not read yet...
@Silviaindump I hear such people exist who wait until they've finished a book to buy another one. I can't imagine it!
@patchworkbunny You don't say. I've been trying to keep my unread book shelf count down, but no! I'm happy to report that I'm failing miserably. πŸ˜‚
@djphng A good kind of failure!
@patchworkbunny waving πŸ‘‹ not weird at all! So glad there are lots of us!
@patchworkbunny πŸ‘‹πŸ» πŸ™‹πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ
@patchworkbunny oh hello! πŸ™‹β€β™€οΈ
@patchworkbunny yes that’s me, hello! πŸ˜…πŸ“š

@patchworkbunny You are already part of my tribe Ellie. My Goodreads needs updating as I had a huge cull recently but I still have more books than I can ever read in one lifetime. But do I keep buying. Of course! πŸ˜‚

#BookAddict #BookStadon tadon

@patchworkbunny Literally just bought 5 books when I have hundreds unread at home...
@patchworkbunny My unread books are the only thing that keeps me going.
@patchworkbunny we paid someone to build fitted bookshelves all down the side of our main room. I've filled those shelves and now there are boxes of books sitting around.
@patchworkbunny Ofc not! why would that be strange? πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜‡
@patchworkbunny I’m your person. Who needs bookshelves when they are floors and couches and tables?
@patchworkbunny do you wanna see me pull a rabbit out of my hat!
@patchworkbunny I love real books πŸ“š too. I love that I can read them anywhere even without the internet.
@patchworkbunny No such thing as too many books!
