Does anyone really believe Donald Trump will ever see the inside of a prison cell?
@mehdihasan No but I really wish I did.
@mehdihasan Nope. Assigning Jack Smith as special master sealed it. He's the guy who never gets any convictions.
@clipperchip @mehdihasan He was given the DOJ’s investigations on a silver platter. I think there’ll be an indictment coming much sooner this way. And, I think he’ll throw in insurrectionists like MTG, Biggs, and other MAGA Congresspeople involved in 1/6 attack on the Capitol.
Making him SC gives DOJ cover so as not to look political.
@mehdihasan not while garland is at the wheel.
@mehdihasan A girl can dream 💁🏽‍♀️
@mehdihasan I do hope, but it is very unlikely.
@mehdihasan never....his armed cult would cause civil unrest. He lost over 2 years ago and our government is still afraid of what his cult could do
@mehdihasan
All I can do is hope justice finally comes for him.
@mehdihasan. So many reasons why he should.
@mehdihasan Absolutely not. I have no hope on that. Call me pessimistic, but look at everything he's gotten away with to this point.
@mehdihasan House arrest and no Diet Coke.
@SeriouslyNow @mehdihasan This is my vote. House arrest is bad for him but less of a secret service nightmare—and ppl less likely to kill and die for a guy who still has housekeeping, personal chefs, and cable. (And yes, I do continue to think the law will prevail.)
@mehdihasan What's the point of this defeatist attitude?
@mehdihasan No (angry face emoji).

@mehdihasan Probably not. But, if he is found guilty of violating the Presidential Records Act, he will never be able to touch a single document. He can only have copies.

NOTHING would be made available for his presidential library.

Last line here:
https://www.archives.gov/presidential-libraries/laws/1978-act.html

Presidential Records Act (PRA) of 1978

The Presidential Records Act (PRA) of 1978, 44 U.S.C. ß2201-2209, governs the official records of Presidents and Vice Presidents that were created or received after January 20, 1981 (i.e., beginning with the Reagan Administration). The PRA changed the legal ownership of the official records of the President from private to public, and established a new statutory structure under which Presidents, and subsequently NARA, must manage the records of their Administrations. The PRA was amended in 2014, which established several new provisions.

@Uhnnohn @mehdihasan I can’t imagine what his “presidential” library would be like. I’ve tried. Faux Time magazine wallpaper everywhere? A monument to the biggest BS artist of all time? Sadly, it will probably be the most visited and popular one of all.
@mehdihasan i seriously doubt he'll ever be charged with anything
@mehdihasan Nope. My guess he'll flee to Saudi before spending a day in prison.
@mehdihasan One can only hope 🥺

@mehdihasan

Yes, because if not it will be a stain upon the DOJ that they will never be able to wipe off. They let plenty (Guiliani) off already.
No more!

@mehdihasan unfortunately No. That is the sad thing.
@mehdihasan Trump never faces consequences for anything, so I’m very doubtful he’ll even be indicted. I hope I’m wrong.
@mehdihasan seems to me that not only will he not see jail time, but he is getting to come back to Twitter. I hate this so much.
@mehdihasan
If he and family want to evade prosecution, I'd be happy with them fleeing (to Russia?) and leaving us in peace.
@mehdihasan Hard to imagine him going to prison, but the opposite is also true.

@mehdihasan

#Trump

I'm not holding my breath. Had some opportunities to put the clampdown on him but no. Before I shuffle off this mortal coil I want very much to see him publicly humiliated and punished.

I still sorta hope that someone finds a way to hack into every network at the same time, Max Headroom in Chicago in 1987-style, and airs the alleged pee-pee tape.

@timekiller_s @mehdihasan I wouldn’t even mind if it was fake. :)
@mehdihasan
If he doesn’t, the law means nothing.
Prepare for chaos.
@mehdihasan First, we need a trial. Then we need a verdict. The sentencing comes last. That's called justice. Saying "prison cell" before anything else has happened is not justice. I don't care what the right says or thinks. I care about justice.
@mehdihasan never. He won’t even stand trial. It’s America.
@mehdihasan No, but ultimately whatever happens is what I will have to accept.
@mehdihasan No, of course not. If we give MBS immunity for the gruesome murder of a U.S. resident, why wouldn't our ex-president also enjoy such special treatment?
@mehdihasan Yes. If he escapes prison for any reason, it had better be his early death. If it doesn't happen, the justice system has permanently impugned itself.
@mehdihasan Still mad at Garland, still holding onto tiny hope.
@mehdihasan
Not anymore -
once I couldn't see how he could avoid prosecution -
now I think the Justice Dept doesn't want to deal with the problems of putting an ex-President in jail.
@mehdihasan I’ll settle for a perp walk at this point…..
@mehdihasan No, which is a shame because I’m certain Americans will make him president again.
@mehdihasan Are any sports books offering it as a bet? I’d imagine the odds for are incredibly favorable.
@mehdihasan I hope he does because the violence with his cult will never end if he keeps getting away with all these crimes. Because of him, they think they are untouchable. We need Justice.
