@dell
It is shocking how quickly this hate is being normalized by certain media. People who were far left just two decades ago have zero qualms about pushing ridiculous, social contagion theories about trans & bi youth on podcasts even *here* in the queer Mecca that is the Bay Area.
As a mother, I worry for my kid’s trans & bi classmates. On one hand, things have improved where I live because more kids feel comfortable coming out in elementary school. Out of my classmates growing up only one of us felt comfortable coming out before high school graduation. On the other hand, the breathtaking pace at which hard fought gains for queer folks are being rolled back is terrifying.
I think we can expect the forces of reaction to continue escalating their hate rhetoric around trans youth’s healthcare rights because they believe it is a salient issue to mobilize their base around. We must be prepared to fight back in our communities.
A. 1000% agree @HeterodoxThis .
B. I realize the source of my confusion. I read "hateful (conduct policy)", not "(hateful conduct) policy".
