keep seeing posts with way more boosts than likes. do y'all not like over here? how do you think people know you like their posts
i don't like posts expecting it to ~increase visibility~?? do people do that on twitter?? i like posts because i like them and there is a button for that
i think they should rename "favorite" to "enjoy". i would like to enjoy posts
@eevee please rate your experience on this post using the provided feedback form
@eevee it's a good time to be a post enjoyer
@eevee i renamed it to "florp" on my instance as a nod to cybre.space which first renamed "favorite" to "florp" and used this icon
@viv @eevee I used to be on cybre.space and I loved that
@eevee the source is open, the power is yours
@eevee the opposite direction would be that you can only have one favorite post ever.
Enjoy would be much better though.

@eevee *checks specification*
Unfortunately “Enjoy” isn't listed in the Activity Vocabulary: https://www.w3.org/TR/activitystreams-vocabulary/#activity-types
You'd need to add a custom activity type for proper server to server enjoyment.

But it's an outrageous omission!

Activity Vocabulary

@jnv @eevee yeah but you could change the UI to say enjoy 😊
@luhem7 @eevee
expired: change the UI of a local instance
tired: upstream the change to the server software
wired: create a custom protocol extension
inspired: change the standard
@jnv @eevee I know which meme template you are referring
@eevee no time like the present to run your own single user instance with all the improved terminology
@halcy @eevee
Why stop there. Randomize it every time it happens! Nobody knows what it means anymore, but it sure is saying... something.
@eevee maybe pedantic but I want a verb that’s more like “express joy”. I refuse to equate my feeling joy with expressing that feeling to a human or server 😌
@eevee but yes i agree with the sentiment that tapping the star button good
@chrisamaphone @eevee If we only get one button for this I feel like "appreciate" is the most broadly useful word: it applies to situations that are not enjoyable but still important. Too bad it's such a long word and hard to fit into UIs.
@eevee @johnnesky IMPORTANT UPDATE: i learned in the last few hours that favs don’t sync across servers? So that may explain some of the discrepancy you’re seeing

@chrisamaphone @eevee
When I first started on Twitter it struck me as very odd that just clicking a button was supposed to convey an emotion. Emotions aren't buttons.

I got used to it over time, maybe even slightly addicted, but it's still weird when I actually stop to think about it.

@eevee bring back miiverse "Yeah!"
@eevee My preference would be "nod". I don't "enjoy" people saying they're hurting, but I can nod.
