Just started using #Toot! rather than the official iOS Mastodon app. How do I go about #editing toots if I make a mistral?
@hughashton is toot a different app?
@Bandart Yes. Officially Toot! (with exclamation mark).
@hughashton thanks maybe I will try that one out
@Bandart it’s a paid app and a bit different. I have a feeling I’m not using it right.
@hughashton oh I am cheep I refuse to pay for apps haha

@hughashton Hello! I do not think Mastodon has an “edit button,” per se. I also use Toot!, and when I tap into a toot that I have composed, I see a three-dot menu icon just to the left of the “Reply” button.

In that menu, one of the options is “Delete & re-draft.” That option will delete your toot and put its contents back in your composition box. You can edit it there and re-upload. This will change the timestamp on your toot. So, if you start editing content from months ago, be advised that it’ll be added back at the top of your timeline.

@knottedthreads Thanks. I thought there was an Edit in this app, but it seems not. Or is this a server thing?
@hughashton I have accounts on qoto.org, mstdn.social, and mastodon.social. I did not find an edit button in Toot! for any of those instances. I also don't find an edit button in the web interface for any of those instances. If there are any servers with custom edit buttons, I'm not aware of them.
@knottedthreads Thanks. That’s useful info.
@knottedthreads Looks as though I can edit on the Web interface, though.
@hughashton
I don't know that app but in the web interface you click on the three dots ... and edit is one of the options.
