This went up originally in March 2020. I came across the Word file that it links to on my hard disk, re-read it, and thought it was actually quite good.
I wrote this story at the start of lockdown in 2020, and before my mother had the fall which ultimately led to her death. There's another personal element here which I won't go into at this time. I would say "enjoy", but this is not really a piece of writing to be enjoyed.

Voting for change. The first votes today at this polling station here in Lichfield.

I've been a City councillor for 4 years now, and have enjoyed being able to help make Lichfield a better place to live in. My current ward(has been re-organised into Chadsmead, and that's where I'm standing for City.
For the District, I'm standing for Stowe, the ward where I live. Knocking on doors and chatting to people, we can see a definite desire for change. We believe that the Lib Dems, can help bring about the changes in Lichfield that people are requesting.

Just a thought. Was this weekend chosen for the coronation because all the pomp and circumstance will mean that the forthcoming destruction of the Conservatives in local elections gets pushed to the back pages, if it gets mentioned at all? Just a random suspicious thought.

Hardline Brexiteers moaning about there not being a “proper Brexit” are like a man told he can run faster if he loses weight, so cuts off one leg to become lighter. Since he doesn’t run faster as a result, he thinks that the action taken was insufficient and he now wants to cut off both legs.
