@dgurdasani1 one thing to be aware of when using automatic cross-posting is the culture around content warnings on many mastodon instances — they are used much more often on mastodon and should be respected.

The tone is very different here though, and Content Wrappers are well used, so people can scroll on by stuff that doesn't interest them.

I've noticed a few tweeps using cross-posting — you can tell because they sound very shouty and abrasive. 😉

It's strange, I popped back to Twitter earlier and I amazed that I used to like it!

@dgurdasani1 only problem seems to be that the alt text you add to graphics is not copied across - which politely upsets the folk here who, quite rightly, would like our discussions to be as inclusive as possible.

@andrewsharpe @dgurdasani1 Yes, I've noticed that. But, the strange thing is, it's only Mastodon that's affected. The alt text appears in the other sites I post to (not twitter),

@dgurdasani1 I would advise people to keep any cross posting to a minimum. If you think about it people wouldn’t cross post stuff from Twitter to Facebook because Facebook is respected as a platform in its own right. Similarly Mastodon is a social media platform/communication channel in its own right that is very different from Twitter and offers different communication opportunities . The best posts on Mastodon are original ones.

@dgurdasani1 sadly this doesn't work 'cos Twitter blocked it. You can set a working crossposter up with IFTT though!
