@Molly

Hello, nice to meet you.

@Molly Stroudie in the house! πŸ™ŒπŸ˜€
@Molly why'd the mods mute you? confusing. Coming from urbanists.social
@Molly Welcome to Mastodon, Molly!
@Molly I remember in economics lecture back in late 1970s lecturer explaining resources like air etc considered to have no economic cost (memory a little sketchy now) with many in class even back then arguing that was madness. Almost 50 years on and little change
@Molly Great to see you here Molly.
@Molly Welcome! Happy to see you here.
@Molly belated welcome from us down the road
@Molly I'm tired of politicians from conventional right and left promising more growth. I've tried pointing out that infinite growth on a finite planet is impossible, so maybe its time for a different approach, but they just start wittering about Malthus and dismiss the argument. I think we're doomed because we're too stupid to do anything about it.
@Molly hello Molly. Long time. How's things?
@KenMoon Hi Ken, I’m well, how about you?
@Molly keeping on keeping on πŸ€—
@Molly Great to see you here , Molly.
@SuneAuken You too!
@Molly You might profit from a little extra early reach. Can I do a shout for you?
@Molly hi Molly ! I look forward to your updates. Tbh, it should be a no brainer on investing green. Park for a moment that someone born today risks being the last gen of our species, because of this… and just factor in that nobody should want to invest in obsolete technologies. Spesh us in UK where we have a choice. It’s cheaper too. Srs, what’s the point in non green energy in > 20s?: nestlesure? It’ll be like a 20 β€œinvesting” in cigarettes instead of a vape.
@Molly Great to see you and many others from the European Movement UK team.

@Molly

Hi, I've been thinking about how we could have a "green economy" for a long time now and have concluded that:

a) We need a full set of Pigouvian taxes to "sculpt" activity into a "shape" that will deliver maximum human welfare at minimal ecological cost*.

And / or

b) Rebuild accounting systems from scratch, on peer to peer basis with protocols based on an optimal sustainable Ecological Footprint / HD ratio as below. (Which I hope you are aware of!)

Sustainable Development - Global Footprint Network

One simple way to assess sustainable development is by using the Ecological FootprintΒ© and the Human Development Index (HDI).

@Molly I'm convinced we need parallel local currencies with a different tax base in order to foster a more local more circular economy. You may be interested in taking this further than I've been able to so far: https://covcd.copsewood.net/

Collection of tips for newbies - including me! Find people from Twitter using these 2 tools. They generate a csv that can be imported into Mastodon via Edit profile > import debirdify scans Twitter bios for Mastodon accounts https://pruvisto.org/debirdify/ fedifinder scans Twitter handles and tries match them with Mastodon handles https://fedifinder.glitch.me/ And use them frequently not just once. For me, the list is growing every time I use them. #FediTips #TwitterMigration 1/n
