Someone (@EngagedPureLand) was mentioning how UUs (Unitarian Universalists) offer a lot more sermons on Star Trek than Star Wars. Well, I'm not a minister and this is not a sermon, but it is one of my favorite things I've ever written, and it's about Star Wars. 🙃 (Warning: There are spoilers if you haven't seen 'A New Hope' and 'Rogue One' yet.)

Weird observation based purely on decades of anecdotal evidence: Trek sermons have historically outnumbered Star Wars ones in UUism, but SW ones are at least at parity with Trek in the Buddhist Churches of America

I do wonder if the ratio is shifting because of new generations of production. For so long we had many main series Trek shows and movies but just 3 main SW movies and a handful of side stuff (Ewok movies and cartoon etc). Now we have a great abundance of SW content

For me, it is more the quality of the content than the quantity. I just (personally) haven't found SW historically to have been as thought-provoking as ST (but that has changed more recently).

I'd be very curious to see what the BCA sermons about Star Wars are like, and also curious to see your SW sermons Lara.

@shaktinah @EngagedPureLand It’s just one sermon, actually. ST probably does offer more material. I’m not sure I could come up with a second SW sermon!
