#Introduction Hi! I am Simón(e) and I’m excited to meet y’all here on Mastodon!

I am a trans non-binary woman, and a #scientist 👩🏻‍🔬 #artist 👩🏼‍🎤 #activist ✊🏽.

I research what sex hormones do in the brain 🧠 , how they change neurons and their gene expression.

I make #music 🎶 out of neural data to show how we can use #science as material to create art.

I fight for #transrights 🏳️‍⚧️ and work to revolutionize how we think about sex & gender in science and society.

@simonedsun That photo w/ the graffiti is 🔥 🔥 🔥 !!!

And I love your energy in all of them! So happy to see you here, welcome!

@simonedsun welcome!
I would really appreciate it if you could point me to where I can find the music you make with neuro data.

@simonedsun this is AMAZING! Thank you again.
I find it both wonderful to listen to and professionally useful.
I work in the #openscience world, mainly looking at #intellectualproperty law. I always tell people that sharing data could lead to beautiful, unpredictable, creative uses. This is an absolutely perfect example.
Making music from data is clearly a derivative use, which IP could get in the way of. Just another reason to let data be free.
@simonedsun Do you have any recommendations on research to read on the effects of sex hormones on brain morphology and neuronal changes? I've been looking serious research but my speciality is math and computer science, so my arxiv.orgfu isn't as good in neuroscience.
