tech.lgbt is proud to announce that we're adding 80% more microservices once I find out what those are
@prehensile I assume one is the thing that makes only your latest toot show up under explore for me
@rooster every post on there has to be manually approved in the mod interface unless they’re a pre approved user and I don’t think anyone ever bothers to do it because we forget that page exists but I’m not sure there’s a way to just turn it off. I just approved a whole screen of posts though but I think it takes a minute for them to show up #professionalism
@prehensile feel free to pre approve me so when people click explore it’s just a bunch of my selfies
@prehensile if you figure out what a microservice is please tell me i'm supposed to know but still don't
@obsidianical damn I was hoping someone else knew
@prehensile Cool, another 80% of cute isopods :3
@prehensile Well you see you just take your APIs and you <indistinct mumbling> and that's a microservice!
@prehensile OMG, all the #mastoadmins need to make a similar announcement.
@prehensile I've got a microservice for ya right here. :Eyebrows:
@prehensile you first need to buy 10.000 RPCs before you can launch a microservice. I may have some for sale, only €8 each ;-)

@mostalive @prehensile

Don't just leave your services scattered on the table like an overturned box of pasta.

You must weave them into a service mesh, or a REST blanket, or knit them into an RMI scarf.

I can teach you on my Twitch strea—

@prehensile do you know what a single point of failure does?
microservices do that at scale.
@prehensile Is it more cute emojis? You folks have the best emojis, I trust your tastes in micquoshervices.

@prehensile Microservices once were seen as a solution.
Than as a problem.

I think at the moment people start realizing that you should use them as needed and not because it's cool.

Yes, technology people (especially in IT) have fashion trends they follow.

@Stefan_S_from_H @prehensile Every big movement towards some new software technology can be measured by how long it takes green engineers to learn about sound engineering practices from experience, in years from when a new tranche of engineers gets out of college. Also, every generation of software engineers is doomed to re-invent timesharing on accident.
@prehensile it's when thing go slow
@prehensile I’ll ask a small favor and see what happens.
@prehensile Ok, but what about nanoservices? Or macroservices?
@chillbruh @prehensile not to mention milliservices, deciservices, and dekaservices!
@prehensile I hear they complement microblogging perfectly.

@prehensile I'm not convinced microservices are real thing. I suspect someone just made up a word for a specific case of doing architecture reasonably good, and that word was microservice.

It's just when you have limited scope of responsibility for individual classes in the code, right? I hope?

@prehensile 😂😂😂👍🏻 Right?? Lol
Being emersed back into a techie world..while simply trying to navigate the new ( to me ) platforms.
Man, some of the tech talk takes me back into the late 80s and early 90s when my son quickly became a little microchip after the internet finally came to our rural area. I know as much now about operating systems, etc, as I did then…. nottah lol lol
I’m here ! I gave birth to a programmer/coder… hope that counts for something lol
@prehensile those are the Nanites from the Satellite of Love right
@plsburydoughboy @prehensile Damn Wesley Crusher left the lid off the petri dish again?
@prehensile I had to unboost then take a screenshot because "nice" 😂
@prehensile apparently they're super unimportant but also crash a lot of critical services like 2FA. no big deal!
@prehensile when you find out let Musk know. He doesn't have a clue
@prehensile how about macroservices?
@prehensile it's where you provide the Greek letter "mu" in a variety of styles and colors. Or maybe it's where you fix people's broken microwave ovens
@prehensile heard Twitter is getting rid of most of their microservices. Maybe you can use the ones they don’t need anymore.
@prehensile omit the microaggressions I think.
@prehensile pretty sure it's just network hamsters bringing toots to our timelines
