If you want a definition of #Socialism I believe the #NHS is a brilliant example.

Of course, for those able to pay a premium, private healthcare is available, but we should never lose sight of the fact that NOT EVERYONE IS ABLE TO PAY!!!

@TeeDixie but when you choose to pay, VAT shouldn't be a surprise.
@TeeDixie exactly and even for some people who can pay, pre-existing conditions can be a very big issue

@TeeDixie
Totally agree Tee. I posted this on the ‘other place’ a little while ago.

The #NHS is arguably socialism’s greatest achievements because it ensures a lifetime of healthcare standards to the population irrespective of their wealth, social standing or ability to pay, from the cradle to the grave.
And that is why the right wing are intent on destroying it

@TeeDixie I think people should remember they are paying National INSURANCE. You pay into it hoping you never have to take from it but knowing the security of it being there. How many people pay car insurance HOPING they have an accident?
@TeeDixie the other good thing about the NHS is you pay the same for it via taxes at all stages of your life and no matter whether you have a pre-existing condition or not. Private healthcare tends to exclude pre-existing conditions or charge more
@TeeDixie and it’s hat is precisely why the tories hate the NHS so much. It’s an accessible, successful embodiment of socialism.
It proves that socialism does work.
I mean, if anyone has had the mis fortune of using private health care and it has gone wrong, what happens? They refer you back to the NHS to fix their complications.
