“One may be an oddity, two a coincidence. Three is a pattern. The slimy antics of Mr Hancock, the revolving disgraces of “Sir” Gavin & the continued presence in high office of Ms Braverman epitomise a culture of shamelessness”

Andrew Rawnsley on the steps #Sunak needs to take if he wants to convince anyone he cares about integrity #UKPolitics

As disgraced Tory MPs shame politics, will Rishi Sunak keep his promise to clean up the house?

Time was when a dishonourable member would resign and disappear for good after a scandal. Not any more

@gem_abbott surely it’s too late? You can’t do one thing and then think ‘oh it’s not sitting right with the public’ better do this other thing instead. We need proper integrity and honesty - not the pretend plastic Sunak type.
@gilllauder it’s too late for me! But I think Rawnsley’s right, if Sunak wants to try to stop the rot
@gem_abbott Andrew Rawnsley, as always, on point. But what a depressing reminder of the charlatans we have been lumbered with. I have tried to wipe the Johnson era from my memory but this has served to reignite the flames of anger and loathing.
@gem_abbott
excellent piece from Andrew Rawnsley this morning I thought. Very clearly outlined the stench at the centre of government and how a change of prime minister (or changes I should say) has made no real difference. If we thought things would improve after Johnson was ousted then we were wrong

The one crucial step is increasing the competence of some of the MPs in the house
@gem_abbott I think you are giving him credit for a degree of competence that just isn't there.
@gem_abbott Sunak served Boris, that tells us all we need to know about his judgement
@gem_abbott A very sharp, on point article. It's the constant sense of entitlement that infuriates me. Entitlement based on ignorance is wrecking the nation.
