Imagine, if you will, that you're a disembodied #brain. A brain that spontaneously popped into existence in a most unlikely coalescing of random particles, a brain busily conjuring up a #reality consisting of you imagining yourself as a disembodied brain. 🙃

@JudyHelfrich I had a class on stem cells a long time ago where one of the topics we read about was growing human neurons in petri dishes. The neurons would clump into small spheroids and the cells would die from the inside out leaving a thin surface layer of active cells. I know there wouldn't be enough neurons for them to be thinking anything, but the image still sticks with me. What a weird existence, computing unknown patterns across the surface of a dead ball detached from the world.
@wistahe Whoa, that is wild! And a bit freaky. Sounds like a really cool experiment, though. And yeah, a really weird existence. 🙃

@JudyHelfrich
That's amazing!

I've loved the topic of Boltzmann brains since I was a little kid.

My 3rd-grade teacher explained "Natural-vs-Man-Made" to the class. It didn't go well. One kid asked how he could tell whether a car he encountered in the desert were natural or man-made.

I raised my hand and said, "There's no way you will ever find a Boltzmann Camaro in the desert."

My teacher responded with...

Wait for it...

"Camaros are made by Chevrolet, not Boltzmann."

@AndroidAstronomer Thanks! And bahaha, "Boltzmann Camaro" is brilliant, especially for a third-grader. Too bad that went over your teacher's head. Plus, if the many-worlds theory is correct, there's gotta be a Boltzmann Camaro in some universe--or at least a brain that is imagining it. 🧠 😂
