Woah. There's so many interesting creatives and technical folks here!

If we haven't already talked, could you share what you're working on or making?

@goldiechan psi school novel I’ve been working on for an obscene length of time; also a Yuletide fic and a game related project for a publishing company.
@Rabbit what is the yuletide fic about?
@goldiechan it’s a secret! Can’t say until the reveal. :) I will say that it’s a crossover tho.
@goldiechan I record and share short Southern Gothic Flash Memoir. Currently working with an artist to create comic versions of the stories. They do say "show/don't tell" after all!
@ruralgloom oh neat! how did you find the artist to work with?
@goldiechan We both live in the same city. So would interact at different writing events.
@ruralgloom oh serendipitous meetings are great!
@goldiechan Events are good because they let you find the people who are excited for projects in general.
@goldiechan hey there! As a company (but since I’m a co-founder, it’s also a project close to heart), developing an incident response platform, with playbooks built in! Trying to improve the efficiency of paper-based playbooks 🤓
@anomalyod what is an "incident response platform" is that for corporate work?
@goldiechan oh yes, it’s for companies to handle/respond to cyber incidents. A predetermined set of tasks to follow in case of, say, a ransomware attack, or other hacking activities
@anomalyod woah that sounds incredibly important and helpful for setting a protocol
@goldiechan thank you!! The protocols already exist, though not very intuitive to follow as they’re usually in a pdf document, or a printed paper. We’re just making it digital and more intuitive and easy to follow. What’s your project?
@anomalyod ah! That makes sense. I'm working on my very first book with a publisher on personal branding for introverts!
@goldiechan oh Damon that sounds so cool! Keep us posted when it’s published!
@anomalyod I hope it will help a lot of folks feel more confident in their work and regular lives

@goldiechan I’m not really working on much interesting at work. I’m focusing on accessibility though on current projects and that’s one of my biggest interests in web development right now.

I am working on a tabletop RPG rule set/toolkit I plan to make with an open license where anyone could make supplements or even their own games based off it.

@MarkCodesTheWeb accessibility is incredibly important!
@goldiechan I agree. I’m studying about learning disorders like dyslexia to learn ways to improve readability. Also working on ways to help those with SPD (sensory processing disorder) but it’s really difficult. I would love to make a browser extension that prevents sound or video from auto playing on websites.
@MarkCodesTheWeb wow yes! I remember visiting Microsoft HQ and they were working on really cool haptic stuff for gaming
@goldiechan the best thing Xbox did was their accessible controller which is modular and designed where it adapts to specific physical disability. It’s really cool.
@MarkCodesTheWeb so cool! And yes, I hope they continue to develop more - the folks I talked to were super passionate about their work
@goldiechan fiction short stories/novellas that follows different groups of hackers. Trying to make it both realistic, yet interesting, basically on the same vain as Mr. Robot trying to depict it realistically on TV, for the most part, but not just redoing that story with different characters. Of course it's just a side project so it takes a back seat more often than not.
@xanos are you basing it off of existing hackers or made up?
@goldiechan the characters that are actually focused on will be entirely made up, but there might be references to some groups or people that are real. Like there are tools that actually exist that get mentioned and used at one point or another, and some lines talk about the people that wrote some of the software and whatnot that the characters use, if that makes sense.
@goldiechan I'm working on migrating my twitter bots to Mastodon
@JoeSondow woah, sounds technical! do you know if we can schedule posts into here or if that's a lot of coding?
@goldiechan For most of my stuff, the schedule and automation is custom, but for StarTrekHour I am on the lookout for a Buffer.com equivalent that will schedule posts to Mastodon. I don't know of one yet.
@JoeSondow Let me know if you find one!
@goldiechan I heard a rumor Hootsuite might do it but I can't find confirmation yet, and my login isn't working.
@goldiechan Will do!
@JoeSondow I'm also asking the service I use (agorapulse) if they're working on anything
@goldiechan I found people on Twitter asking Buffer if they’ll support Mastodon. They said not currently but encouraged people to ask for the feature at https://buffer.com/feature-request which I just did, and you can too.

Thank you for using Buffer. We would love to hear your ideas on how we can make our products even better for you!

Buffer: All-you-need social media toolkit for small businesses
@goldiechan what got you into writing?
@robespierre I just always wrote and that became different types of writing - marketing, fiction, nonfiction
@goldiechan I have a weekly podcast (Secret Nerd Pod) which is an interview show with people about their experiences in the TTRPG space. And hopefully next week I will have a new game which is about 30 pages of dealing with human conflict in an apocalypse. Inspired by The Last of Us, and built for narrative play. I’m very excited for it! I hope you’re doing well! Thanks for letting me share!
@NavaarSNp awesome! And don't forget to use #TTRPG next time you talk about your games to help other folks find it
@goldiechan I appreciate it! I’m still trying to figure this place out haha
@NavaarSNp same! it's all a work in progress
@goldiechan hey! 👋🏻 I’m editing my first novel and am about to self publish an illustrated guidebook to a fictional sculpture highway (soon as I’m done moving). Plus, a constant stream of photo projects.
@colorblindcowboy cool! what is your first novel about?
@goldiechan it’s about an alcoholic who romanticizes the old west as an escape from his depression. It’s an examination of substance abuse and family trauma crossed with an acid western Don Quixote set in the late ‘70s.
@goldiechan I’m helping build a new newsroom serving Los Angeles county! :)
@goldiechan currently finishing a new music project and my first book, about my crazy childhood and my serial killer father.
@BrandonHilton oh wow, that sounds intense! I hope it is cathartic for you

@goldiechan it has actually been the best therapy. sitting down with various family members and hearing their stories and perspectives and crying together has really helped me open up.

some memories have been hard to revisit and some I’d completely blocked out, it has been interesting.

If anything I hope sharing my story helps other young LGBTQ people on their journeys and somehow inspires them.

@goldiechan Writing #haiku poetry and trying to enjoy social media again after basically abandoning the concept for years. Going great so far!
@stvmln what made you come back to social media?
@goldiechan My Discord buddies recommended it to me specifically as a place where I could find close-knits groups of good users and actually converse with people.
@stvmln interesting! do you consider discord social media or not?
@goldiechan Technically yes but I'm on very small servers with people I know and it feels a lot more like IRC and other private online venues.

@goldiechan Hi! Yes, this place is fascinating and uplifting!

I’m based in India, and I consider myself an unpublished author, because I’ve got three books in the making since 2005 😁😅

While I’m struggling to finish these books, I’ve written perspectives in magazines and newspapers, some as a ghostwriter, and some under my own name.

I blog about travel and food sporadically. And I make a living as a leadership advisor and conflict resolution professional 🤓

@goldiechan material study on video as 3D models, you can find it all on my links in bio along with some sound and #8bit stuff I do for fun!

@goldiechan I am currently making bookmarks out of old bibles using my laser cutter as they sell well in the holiday season. But, I do all sorts of crafty things and coding.

I am also working on a task/todo app that is an RPG so it incentivizes you to get things done
