Alright I'm curious about something. I can listen to the same song on repeat for days and not get bored, is it the same for other autistic people?

How long can you listen to the same song on repeat before it becomes too much?

@RosethornRangerTTV Listening to one song on repeat is one of my favourite stims and something I’ve done my whole life. When I fall in love with something, that same song can stay with me for years!
@Lilly_Jade_ yeah sometimes it just really scratches that itch. I look for a song to stim with like that for days at a time sometimes, because it needs to be just right.
@RosethornRangerTTV i do this but with albums. i usually don't just listen to just songs or playlists
@RosethornRangerTTV I'm not sure about listening to the same song over and over. But my crazy brain will repeat songs on my head over and over and over etc...even if I only heard the song once. Welcome to my brain !!!
@RosethornRangerTTV it needs to be a small playlist if i want to listen to > 1 day... 😄
@RosethornRangerTTV I make playlists of around 12 songs that I repeat for many many months before I get tired of them and make a new one
@RosethornRangerTTV I find that I can't listen to songs on repeat, but I can listen to albums on repeat for days.
@RosethornRangerTTV To be honest I’ve never tested it because I’ve always had someone around before I hit the week mark and my masking wouldn’t let me keep going…
@Enbybookwyrm I'm sorry to hear that, having to mask sucks

@RosethornRangerTTV I think my record for literally listening to the same song on repeat without any break at all. Just playing non stop over and over again... is about 16 hours. But lots of songs I would play heavily for days and days.

these days I don't listen to music though as I have found it pushes me into sensory overload too easily.

@ephant music growing up would definitely overload me as well. The worst bit was when there were lyrics but I just couldn't quite understand them.

I live in a now city so I don't have much of a choice, it it's better than random car noise.

@RosethornRangerTTV

During particularly stressful period i struggled with executive function, couldn't choose who to listen to let along which song. I sat myself down and picked 1 artist with a good range. Let the Universe choose and direct from there. 2 years later I'm now adding other artists back in. It saved my sanity, I couldn't not have music.

@RosethornRangerTTV

Also. I've accidentally had a song on repeat and not realised it wasn't just a brilliant mega long epic remix.

@RosethornRangerTTV looking at the Thomas the tank engine theme being my top song because i played it on loop for two weeks due to some very intense dnd sessions during that time: is this not normal?
@RosethornRangerTTV How far are we taking this? Do we poop next to music? If we're not talking constant loop day&night, I can obsess over a song for about a week or two before it settles down into mild obsession
Oh no. It depends,?
