Elijah Schultz@Sheril honestly I think it'll come down to who gets drawn into it and the evolution of onboarding to the site. People went to birdsite because that is where celebs, organizations, etc were communicating. It having a good easy to understand UI made it that much better. Mastodon has to get the first one still, while it has work to do on the second one imo.
