#Mull is sometimes called "Eagle Island" and for good reason.

There are about 30 pairs of golden eagles here and up to 22 pairs of white-tailed eagles.

The latter are easier to see, and friends of mine operate a boat trip out to see them (Mull Charters) in action.

This is from one of their trips, and is of a white-tailed eagle changing direction quickly using its massive wings.

Majestic and awe-inspiring birds.

@petewalkden Astonishing power and beauty. What a shot!

@petewalkden

Beautifully captured 😁

@petewalkden Absolutely love Mull and its wildlife. That's a tremendous action shot πŸ‘πŸ»
@petewalkden between otters & eagles I really need to be booking myself a trip to Mull 😊
@petewalkden the way this bird's head is entirely upright and stable, even during a 90Β° banking turn, is superb.
@petewalkden That is just stunning.☺️
@petewalkden I once had the pleasure of seeing two golden eagles with no effort on my part at all, simply from glancing out of the window of Lochranza Youth Hostel on Arran. One of them was holding prey. Even better, on a shelf next to me was a Guide to the Birds of Scotland so I was immediately able to defend against the cries of "it was probably a buzzard" when I returned home.
@petewalkden wow .....what a brilliant photo ...
@petewalkden If you made an Eagle sculpture that shape no one would think it realistic! What a pose to capture.
@petewalkden I saw eagles when in Scotland. So exciting
@petewalkden Sensational shot!! πŸ“ΈπŸ‘πŸ‘
@petewalkden I sometimes see them from my garden, how lucky am I?
@mbl Same here, and very fortunate. I've also watched golden eagles from the garden. Not seen a brambling yet though from it!

@petewalkden it would be worth organising a fact-finding mission for crofters from other areas to come to see how Mull can support so many eagles, and to seek to understand the interface with the farming community.

I had no idea there was anything like that number.

@petewalkden Goodness Pete, I truly enjoy viewing ur tack sharp wildlife pics in and around Scotland. This one in particular caught my attention. Amazing! You must be blessed with the gift of patience.
