Actually pleasantly surprised that this metafilter thread on the #fairUCnow UC grad student strike went a whole eight hours before someone showed up to shake their heads and complain that the students are being unreasonable. You know, because grad students only work part time and definitely aren't the largest group of workers physically collecting data or anything.

Go get em, kids. Give em hell.

I'm pissy about this but I'm actually genuinely pleased with MeFi that it took a whole eight hours for that comment to come up. Usually it's immediate.

I remember the faculty member who sent out an unsolicited email with this sentiment telling us grad students not to complain about salaries when I was a first year. See, grad students only work part time, so when you factor that into the calculation, you're actually doing REALLY GOOD on salary!

I still have the email. And the grudge.
