Throwback to the UC-UAW Strike when the founder of UC Access Now was interviewed about ableism at UC and within the union (ableism is systemic - it's not absent from unions). #UCAccessNow #labor #FairUCNow

The University Of California Bails Out Eviction-Happy Private Equity

The school pumped billions into a Blackstone real estate fund eager to evict tenants and jack up student rents in the midst of a major housing crisis.

The Lever

Quite frankly, ableists within UC-UAW sold out disabled workers. They didn't just drop the revolutionary Access Needs article, but they adopted the language UC told them to adopt, which puts rationing & policing into worker contracts that ISN'T in ADA. They have and continue to engage in the most vicious ableist anti-democratic conduct. it is imperative to eject the appeasing ableists that gleefully did this.

If you're a UC-UAW 2865/SRU member, vote for the Organize to Win slate candidates. Ableists are depending on you continuing to be snowed by them. https://uaw2865.org/join/

University of California Workers Center Disability Justice in Union Organizing

UC intends to dock pay of workers who went on strike

The UC system’s decision will affect 48,000 workers who went on strike for higher pay and other benefits. The union is contesting the call.

Please understand that while the strike is over, this battle is entering perhaps its most critical phase. Will we dutifully adjust our budgets downward at UC's direction, or will we refuse to accept yet another pointless austerity measure? #fairucnow
This is bad for everyone and UC knows this. It's bad for undergrads, who will have less assistance from TAs. It's terrible for grad students, for whom it nullifies any contract gains. It's bad for faculty, who will now have to fulfill the terms of grants with 25% less assistance. #fairucnow
UC strike supporters, we need your help! UCLA has indicated that it will pass the costs of wage increases directly to departments—meaning student workers' hours will be cut by ~25%. Please sign to demand UC fund the contract it negotiated. http://chwe.net/fullyfund/ #fairucnow
Reject Punitive Austerity at the University of California

Oh, and it would have been fine if the #fairucnow strike had actually gotten a child care subsidy for workers, and not just students. Thanks #UC!
