Cakewalk
Free DAW with a bunch of audio features, regular updates and supports video playback (though it's really lacking with that last one but hey at least it kinda works)

It's basically Sonar Platinum without the extra plugins, so yeah pretty good for free
Being an user that went from Sonar to cakewalk, it has been pretty much the same for 2 years now

I think it still comes with the "Studio Instruments" suite, which is drums, solo string section, bass and an electric piano

Ogg container and related codecs. Royalty free audio in all the things. Wish I could say the same for the sorry state of video in games

@firith I use Audacity, Piskelapp and Inkscape a lot. Free tools like these deserve more glory. Also stuff like Gimp, paint.net and of course Blender(which does get its share of glory)
